Plastic Free 2019
Updated: Feb 6, 2020
So were into the 2nd month of the year and I thought I would write a post on how you can make 2019 your year to go plastic free (well as much as you can). Each month I'll post a tip on some of the changes you can make.
Here's my first 2 top tips for January and February
1. Swap out your plastic bottles of soaps and shampoo for a solid soap/shampoo bar. This is one easy switch you make and soap bars look so much prettier in your bathroom than plastic bottles.

This soap on a rope bar is a perfect zero waste addition for in your bathroom, the piece of rope is a great feature so it can be hung in the shower.

Using a shampoo bar makes a great sustainable plastic free swap. Some people say a shampoo bar makes your hair awful, its not but what is happening is that your hair is beginning to go through a transition period. If you've been using bottled shampoo your hair is used is completely used to that and by using a natural shampoo bar which isn't full of any nasties or chemicals your hair needs just to adjust. Keep persevering, it will get better. (I'll get a post written on using natural shampoo bars).
2. Swap out your plastic toothbrush for a sustainable bamboo toothbrush

Do you know how many plastic toothbrushes there are lying around on beaches still to this day ?
Each year over a billion are thrown away worldwide, ending up in landfill, in the sea or washed up on a beach.
Using a bamboo toothbrush with a biodegradable handle is a small change, but together we can make a difference.
Bamboo toothbrushes are available in a variety of colours and bristles and this is a swap the whole family can do together.
If we all made the switch to using a bamboo toothbrush, just imagine how many plastic toothbrushes we would divert from landfill every year.
